Sharks: What are they good for?

Absolutely nothing! I'm reminded of a few years back when, I believe it was the WHO, claimed to have eradicated the smallpx virus from the world (except for the samples in storage). There was a debate in the scientific comunity as to whether the samples should be destroyed as a "species" or subset thereof. Screw smallpox and screw sharks. I have no ilusions that the shark bite is the rarity and we probably coudn't kill them all but don't they compete with us, humans, for ocean goodies and on top of that, they bite us! What fun it would be to go out and kill sharks and then leave them for the lobsters to clean up. Yummy crabs and lobsters on the tale fattened on the corpses of man hunting sharks. Yum
