Same article: supra

"The renewal of any tradition that deserves the name 'progressive' becomes more likely with each step in a better direction."

Lewis said this in the 40's and its a platitudinous noun that the left has turned into a mantra (one typically without substance or value). Yes, my friends, progress means moving forward as in, like, to progress.

Leaving the left / I can no longer abide the simpering voices of self-styled progressives -- people who once championed solidarity

Leaving the left / I can no longer abide the simpering voices of self-styled progressives -- people who once championed solidarity:

"These days the postmodern left demands that government and private institutions guarantee equality of outcomes. Any racial or gender 'disparities' are to be considered evidence of culpable bias, regardless of factors such as personal motivation, training, and skill. This goal is neither liberal nor progressive; but it is what the left has chosen. In a very real sense it may be the last card held by a movement increasingly ensnared in resentful questing for group-specific rights and the subordination of citizenship to group identity. There's a word for this: pathetic."

I often wonder whether K and J and D, good lefty friends of mine, will ever see what they really support. I know what the right is about and it's not forcing women to have babies and its not racist and its not a capitalistic hegemony serving the oligopolies of BIG OIL. Yes, big oil, pharma, NRA, and the like have some powere but why the hell shouldn't they? Capitalism is not de facto evil, the burden of proof lies with the opponent to prove the status quo wrongheaded. And no, the USSR and CHINA do not tilt the balance in that they were either 1) victimized by a rabid opponent in the US or that 2) cultural differences are realities that color each society's defnintions of freedom and happiness, etc....

God made man in his image, no one would say that some of God would prefer to be subjugated and enslaved......or would some?
